Ipsos, Corfu
Ipsos (not to confuse with Issos) is one of the liveliest resorts on Corfu island, located on the east coast near Dassia. Corfu Town is about 16 km away. Ipsos is preferred mainly by young couples, solo travelers and groups of friends because of its relatively great night life (meaning it has a few night clubs and discos). There are lots of accommodation options, shops, services, restaurants and cafes and the place is quite noisy both day and night. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday or if you are a family with small kids, this is definitely not your place, or you should search for accommodation in the outskirts of Ipsos towards Kato Korakiana or Pyrgi.
The beach of Ipsos is narrow but more than 1 km long. It is Blue Flag awarded, gravel mixed with pebbles, and since this part of Corfu faces mainland, there are no waves and wind. Water is transparent and clean, without sea urchins, and sea depth increases gradually. There are sunbeds and parasols to rent, showers and changing cabins, as well as various water sports.
The road which passes through Ipsos runs parallel to the beach and there you will find all restaurants, cafes and shops. A 24-hour medical center is also available in the village.
Barbati
Barbati (Mparmpati) is a small coastal village in the northeast part of Corfu island, dominated by the slopes of Pantokrator mountain and located approximately 19 km away from Corfu Town. The resort is divided into two parts by the main road of Corfu. The hotels and guest houses are scattered both above the road and around the beach, while shops and restaurants can be found mainly by the sea or along the road.
The beach is 1 km long, with smooth pebbles. There is no sand but the water is crystal clear and transparent. There are showers and changing cabins, some water sports are available and boat hire. Some beach cafes are open until late, but in general nightlife in Barbati is poor. The place is suitable for quiet and relaxing holidays.
Dassia
Dassia is a resort situated 14 km north of Corfu Town. It is very scattered and all the buildings are from both sides of the main road, surrounded by green ares and trees. There are no pedestrian streets or alleys, the restaurants, pizzerias, cafes are lined along road. The place is suitable for family holidays and for couples because groups of friends or solo traveler will miss the night life.
In Dassia you will find various hotels. The bigger and more expensive are located around the shore and they offer all inclusive programs. Family hotels and apartments are more distant from the beach and at lower prices, usually with no food included. There is one camping site. The resort also has 24-hour medical center, supermarkets and ATM.
The beach is long, gravel is mixed with sand but the water is very clean and transparent. There is a choice of water sports as well. Some of the beach front hotels have private areas by the sea, available for their clients only.
